CFPA-I General Assembly Elects New Officers

By CFPA-I|September 15th, 2017

CFPA-I recently convened for their triennial General Assembly in Beijing, China.  Chairman Steven Ooi presided over the proceedings, which covered such matters as exterior cladding regulations, smart firefighting, and emerging opportunities for fire protection associations.

The General Assembly also undertook the election of new officers and board members.  The delegates elected Board Member Hatem Kheir, from the Egyptian Fire Protection Association, to the Chairmanship.  Steven Ooi of Malaysia, who had led CFPA-I as Chairman for the previous six years, accepted the position of Treasurer by unanimous consent of the Assembly.  Board Member Jesper Ditlev, from Denmark, became Vice Chairman, having previously served as Treasurer for a three year term.

CFPA-I also welcomed two new board members.  The Assembly confirmed Robert Llewellyn, of the Fire Protection Association of Australia, to the board.  Mr. Llewellyn also serves as Chairman of CFPA-Asia, which would meet the following day for their own General Assembly.  The second new board member, Chen Weiming, succeeded Mr. Zhang Shaoyu as the representative from China Fire Protection Association.  Mr. Chen graciously hosted the General Assembly in Beijing during the China Fire Expo, and CFPA-I extends its sincerest gratitude to him and his team for their generosity and hard work during this busy time.

Congratulations to these newly elected officers and board members.  CFPA-I members and the fire protection community at large look forward to reaping the rewards of your leadership, and advancing the mission of this important organization in the coming years.
